Qualifying For Medicare Under Age 65
When 你 are under 65, 你 become eligible for Medicare if:
- You have received Social Security Disability 大发888dafa (SSDI) checks for at least 24 months
- Or, 你 have been diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
Eligibility for Medicare due to a disability
You may qualify for Medicare due to a disability if 你 have been receiving SSDI checks for more than 24 months, also known as the two-year waiting period. The two-year waiting period begins the first month 你 receive an SSDI check. You will be automatically enrolled in Medicare at the beginning of the 25th month that 你 receive an SSDI check.
If 你 receive SSDI because 你 have Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, 或肌萎缩性侧索硬化症, Medicare automatically begins the first month that 你r SSDI benefits start. You do not have the two-year waiting period.

If 你 are under 65 and have ESRD, when 你r Medicare benefits begin depends on 你r specific circumstances, including when 你 apply for Medicare, whether 你 receive dialysis at home or at a facility, and whether 你 get a kidney transplant. If 你 are eligible for ESRD Medicare, 你 can enroll in Parts A and B together at any time. Part A will be retroactive up to 12 months, but it cannot start earlier than the first month 你 were eligible for ESRD Medicare.
